Montrose Lighthouse Inc. (MLI) currently faces significant financial challenges. Operating the winter shelter costs over $13,000 per month, with an annual budget requirement of approximately $145,000. While generous grants from the Colorado Health Foundation in 2021 and 2023 provided vital support, those funds are now nearly depleted.

As of May 2025, without additional funding, MLI will be unable to sustain operations through the upcoming winter season. To address this urgent need, a dedicated fundraising effort has been launched to raise $25,000 to bridge the gap until new grant opportunities become available.

The MLI Board is actively pursuing additional funding through smaller grants, community partnerships, and outreach to local churches, nonprofits, the City of Montrose, and the public. Despite challenges in the current funding landscape, the Board remains fully committed to ensuring our essential services continue uninterrupted—because for many in our community, access to shelter is a matter of survival.
